Mt Covid Vaccination Journey

Wednesday 24th February 2021

Hello Everyone,

I’m sure there were mixed feelings while Boris was announcing the plan to ease restrictions by the 21st of June.

Whatever your feelings, I recommend sitting with the image of a sunny summer’s day out with your loved ones. Just for a minute or two…if you fancy it you can take a few deep breaths.

Visualisations like this, even just for a moment or two can reduce stress levels and boost your mood. Something I know I need during the lockdown winter.

(if you missed the announcement, you can watch it here)

Best Wishes to you all,

Bea

WHAT CAN I SHARE WITH YOU TODAY?

Sandra’s blog post

Thank you for sending the 2nd installment of your blog. Leaving the house for essentials has been fraught with anxieties this year, especially for those who are vulnerable to the virus because of age or medical conditions. I can empathise with this feeling and I am sure many can, as the campaign poster proves!

Sandra My Vaccination Journey – Waiting for my Vaccination – #2

In January I waited impatiently to be called for my vaccination.

E-mails started going to and fro between neighbours asking each other if they had been vaccinated. Soon almost everyone around me had received ‘the call’ and I discovered ‘Vaccination Envy’. Then I got an e-mail from Camden. They wanted to encourage vaccine uptake and were asking volunteers to send in a photo of themselves with a statement of how they felt about the vaccine. My words came quickly, then I struggled with the selfie, and sent it all in.

I got an e-mail back from Camden asking for consent for my material to be used in campaign posters, bus stop adverts and social media. I wondered vaguely how useful it would be to have a tiny picture of me and my words next to a timetable at a bus stop, then realised they were talking about BUS SHELTERS! No way! But after a short struggle with myself I decided that this was no time to be faint-hearted and said yes. The very next day I got the phone call from my GP offering me my vaccination appointment.

Here are the words and photo I sent into Camden:

“I am 78 and for most of the pandemic have been shopping in the local supermarket once a week. Every day I know that tomorrow I could get Covid-19 symptoms and be dead within four weeks. I can’t wait to be vaccinated and have this threat lifted from my life, or at least significantly reduced.”

Adam Curtis Documentary, ‘Can’t get you out of my head’. Available on BBC iPlayer.

This week I started watching a documentary. I am on Part 3 of 6, I plan to watch the next part this evening.

Adam Curtis uses BBC archive footage to tell a story. This documentary explores and links together various topics such as individualism, conspiracy theories, national myths, and American Imperialism.

I’d love to hear what you think, you can watch it on BBC iPlayer.

Your Photos

We haven’t received any photos this week, so in lieu of your beautiful photos. Here is a photo of my cat ‘Fatty’,  Who likes to curl up in a flowerpot when it’s sunny!

Please share any photos you have taken recently with us. We’d love to see what you have been up to during lockdown, whether it’s gardening, painting, or walking around your local area.
