Aims for Young People

  • To provide free or low cost, affordable provision for the local community
  • To offer high quality play, informed learning and developmental opportunities for children and young people, to learn, explore, create and socialise in a safe and secure space
  • To provide working parents with after school provision that meets their needs
  • To provide volunteer opportunities for young people and adults
  • To maximise use of Dragon Hall space to offer a challenging, diverse and relevant range of activities
  • To enable young people to challenge negative preconceptions and the deficit model through showcasing their talents effort and contribution
  • To offer a diverse range of activities that combats the lack of provision available
  • To encourage participants to make a positive contribution to their local community
  • To enable young people to locate, develop and use their voice effectively so that it is relevant to others
  • To encourage young people to represent their peers in an appropriate manner
  • To encourage young people to discuss, debate, listen, consider and think about positive solutions to issues that concern them
  • To encourage young people to support each other and value the contribution and opinion of each individual
  • To provide young people with access to skills, outcomes and competencies that they would not get elsewhere
  • To create a network of young people and youth organisations who contribute material to regular radio broadcasts, thereby increasing the diversity and individuality of the work
  • To actively encourage communication, creativity, partnerships, inclusivity and equality with an outward looking focus
