Good afternoon all,
Thank you to everyone who keeps sharing information, links, jokes and photos. This is YOUR newsletter, so please do contribute. If you have any suggestions for future Zoom sessions, please let me know. Any extra sessions are dependent on Dragon Hall getting funding, so please be patient with me. Upcoming Zoom sessions include a Spanish conversation taster, a weekend cultural talk by Chris Barlow, a follow-up conversation with the Wallace Collection, Energy Options and Scientific Method and Anti-Vax, an example of anti-science thinking.
WHAT CAN I SHARE WITH YOU TODAY?
From The British Museum
14th January – 19.30–20.30
Inheriting climate change
Hear from Indigenous Arctic youth activist Maatalii Okalik and Kiribati youth activist Itinterunga Rae Bainteti as they discuss how the climate crisis impacts the Peoples of their regions. The Republic of Kiribati, located in the central Pacific Ocean halfway between Australia and Hawaii, will be the first to go underwater as sea levels continue to rise. Simultaneously, Arctic cultures are experiencing the devastating erosion of their land at the hands of global warming. Despite the extreme difference in the climate of their homelands, the changes these young activists are fighting remain the same.

Over the last few weeks a number of you have shared with me some of the photos that you have taken with your camera, smartphone and tablet. Here is a new regular feature; “your photos”.
Hope you are all keeping fine. Although I have been shielding since last March at home I have not been idle or bored. In fact I have been very busy, thanks to zoom, with various activities as you can see from my photos. I enjoyed the art classes and managed to make a Japanese rice bag with the bits of sample pieces from my batik and silk painting materials.
