The Royal Ballet’s La Fille mal gardée (The Wayward Daughter) in full. Frederick Ashton’s La Fille mal gardée (The Wayward Daughter) is one of the choreographer’s most joyous and colourful creations. Inspired by his love for the Suffolk countryside, the ballet is set on a farm and tells a story of love between Lise, the daughter of Widow Simone, and Colas, a young farmer.

From Rosy:

Pilates In Later Life.
Pilates is a low impact form of exercise that is an excellent route to increased fitness for older adults to build up your stamina, strength and flexibility. The principle objective of pilates is to build abdominal, back and pelvic strength, resulting in body toning and improved posture. Many medical experts believe that when the body is balanced with good posture and good core muscle support, the involuntary body functions such as breathing, digestion and bowel function also benefit.

Rosy is now providing Pilates on Zoom every Wednesday at 10.45am

INFORMATION

From Celia:

From 15th June older Londoners will have to pay full fares during peak hours on weekday mornings (04:30am-09:00am).
Among those most affected by this change are key workers on low wages; carers; those with essential early morning medical appointments; those for whom cycling and walking is not an option; those that rely on early morning priority shopping hours. If you wish to take part in campaigning against the suspension peak time travel concessions.

From Stephen (Age UK Westminster):

I would like to share with you the following video in appreciation of all our volunteers at Age UK Westminster and the help that they provide.

We wouldn’t be able to operate in the same ways without them and their involvement is greatly appreciated since the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic.

LIGHTER SIDE OF LIFE

From Jerry: (shared words of wisdom – designed to make you think)

Today, I kissed my dad on the forehead as he passed away in a small hospital bed.
About 5 seconds after he passed, I realized it was the first time I had given him a kiss since I was a little boy.

Today, in the cutest voice, my 8-year-old daughter asked me to start recycling.
I chuckled and asked, “Why?” She replied, “So you can help me save the planet.”   I chuckled again and asked, “And why do you want to save the planet?”  Because that’s where I keep all my stuff,” she said.
