Brownies
Covent Garden Brownies at Dragon Hall on Wednesdays – 5.45-6.45
What do Brownies do?
Brownies have fun! Their meetings are full of challenges, games and activities. Brownies are encouraged to take part in making decisions as a group, grow in confidence and be good members of their community, whilst making new friends.
What to know:
The Brownie Promise is:
I promise that I will do my best:
To love my God,
To serve the Queen and my country,
To help other people
and
To keep the Brownie Guide Law.
We don’t teach religion at Brownies – girls are encouraged to celebrate their own spirituality, so girls of any faith can be a Brownie.
The Brownie Guide Law is:
A Brownie Guide thinks of others before herself and does a good turn every day.
- Each Brownie chooses what she wants to wear from a range of items – it is up to each girl to decide which items she likes
- Subs are £1.50 a week – Brownie groups are non-profit and run by volunteers, so all money goes towards the running of the unit
- Brownies are aged 7-10

Young Leaders
Between the ages of 14 and 18 you can be a Young Leader with Girlguiding UK. You can take up the challenge of completing the Leadership Qualification, which looks great on a CV. Volunteering with the Brownies also counts towards Awards such as Duke of Edinburgh, or counts as great work experience for people wanting to work in childcare or teaching. Interested? Get in touch!
Unit Helpers
Can you spare an evening a week, a fortnight, a term, or just a one-off? Could you collect subs, take the register or make the refreshments? Do you have a flair for arts and crafts? Could you help us run some games and activities? Volunteering with the Brownies is extremely rewarding and whatever contribution you feel able to make will be greatly appreciated by the leadership team.
Leaders
Brownie Leaders and Assistant Leaders complete the Girlguiding UK Leadership Qualification, which is an on-the-job evidence-based qualification. You’ll develop skills in areas such as leadership, first aid, child development, programme planning, record-keeping and much much more.
Unit Visitors
Do you have a skill to share? Could you teach the girls a new sport? Are you artistic? Do you know yoga or dance? Cookery or origami? First aid or photography? We want the Brownies to experience as much as possible during their time in our unit, so visitors who can come and show them something new are extremely important to us. If you can spare an hour for the girls please get in touch!
