February was the 5th Anniversary for the Dragon Hall Tea Dance!

Brian Cornes, our fantastic Dance Leader, had this to say ‘It was very pleasing to see the 5 year event so well attended and I had some really good feedback about the event. Two dance teacher friends attended as well as the director of a dance company I have been involved with and they praised the event . The dancers were most impressed with the volunteers serving them throughout the afternoon. I also thought the volunteers were superb, it would be great to see them again at Dragon Hall. So a big thank you to our volunteers yourself and Jenny and James. It made the day very special for me and I can not see how it could have turned out better.’

A big thank you to the Metro Bank in Holborn for supplying our fantastic volunteers to help out at this event.

Chrismas Jazz Bash 20th December - Jazz Bash in Dragon Hall. Live New Orleans Jazz, Swing and Blues with the Sax Pastilles. Tickets £5 on the door, great bar & hot food

A small group of actor/workshop leaders will collect the stories and construct them into a short piece of theatre performed by the actors/workshop leaders.

A performance will be given for all involved to hear their stories and share them with family, friends and neighbours at the Tristan Bates Theatre at the Actors Centre in Covent Garden.

It is hoped that this pilot project will be the first phase of an extended project which will develop over 2010 – 2012.

We will be gathering stories through visiting tea dances in October and November, culminating in an informal performance on December 15th, 2009. The project will develop as part of Camden’s Hidden Histories project.

The project will particularly focus on older people to help preserve the history of the local community through the words of those who have lived and experienced it.
